An automobile was designed to have four wheels, accommodate a certain number of passengers and are intended to run on roads for public and goods transport. The invention of automobile or motor cars was a long and very challenging process.

Cars went through a lot of modifications before they became any of those Rolls Royce Phantom for sale. The first plans for motor vehicles were drawn by Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton. Moreover, the first self propelled vehicle was invented on1769. It was a military tractor by Nicolas Joseph Cugnot who was a French engineer and mechanic. The vehicle was powered by a stem engine where the the steam engine and boiler are totally separate from the vehicle. The vehicle was to heavy making it only more practical to used on flat surfaces. It did not go into production because it can only run upto 2.3mph. It was not fast enough to overpower a horse-driven vehicle. Such type of vehicles are quite expensive and are very hard to maintain.

In 1873, A Frenchman named Amedee Bollee created a 12-passenger steamed car which is far much better than Cugnot’s. It wasn’t successful either. No matter how impractical and inefficient those early steam-powered vehicles are, they were still the basis of the fastest, most elegant and sophisticated cars available in the market today.
The invention of an internal combustion engine lead to the improvement and development of a more practical automobile. The first internal combustion engine which makes use of a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen to generate energy was designed by Francois Isaac de Rivaz in 1807. Still wasn’t enough because of fuel issues. The first successful two-stroke gas driven engine was invented in 1860 by Jean Joseph Etienne Lenoir. He was able to build a vehicle using his gas engine which could run upto 3kms/hour which became known to the public and more visible on roads that time. Few modifications on Lenoir’s gas engine gave way to a major development in vehicle production. In 1889, new set of gasoline powered cars were built in Germany by Gottlieb Daimler ,Wilhelm, Maybach and Karl Benz, all in that same year. Companies engaging on car manufacturing came in during 19th century. It was Henry Ford who was given credit for modern automobile mass production.
Over the years from being a luxury, cars became a necessity. Just like everything else, perfection was achieved through continuous improvements. Perfection was an ultimate goal that until now car manufacturers continue to improve every single car out there. A future Rolls Royce Phantom for sale might be something more amazing that what it is right now. Humans’ endless search for improvement and development will definitely put no limit on the car’s evolution. The evolution of cars continues. The next chapters are still yet to unfold.
